Career Opportunities

Graduates of the programme may work as software designers, developers and users, particularly in the development of software for geology, geophysics, surveying, engineering and environmental protection. They may also work as database programmers and administrators, especially in the field of environmental databases; designers and users of GIS software, navigation and location-based applications; and analysts and information specialists, particularly in geospatial information.

Graduates find employment in geoinformatics companies specialising in the development of new technologies and dedicated geoinformation products, as well as in local and central government administration, research institutes in Poland and abroad, and companies operating in geology, geophysics, engineering and environmental protection. Many also establish their own businesses.

Graduate Profile

As a graduate of the first-cycle degree programme, you will be able to:

  • use specialist geoinformatics tools to describe and process data;
  • design, create and manage databases for spatial information, including environmental data;
  • design and carry out spatial data analyses, including radar, aerial and satellite data;
  • use modern programming tools in software development;
  • analyse data using Big Data, Data Science, artificial intelligence, data mining and machine learning methods;
  • use and manage Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including the analysis of spatial and environmental data;
  • prepare technical documentation on specialised topics related to the degree programme in both Polish and English.

After completing the second-cycle degree programme, you will additionally be able to:

  • develop software using modern programming tools for the processing, analysis and visualisation of spatial data;
  • design, create and manage relational and spatial databases;
  • manage Geographic Information Systems;
  • perform spatial and environmental data analyses using data mining and Big Data methodologies.
