
A new addition to the Faculty’s educational offer, the second-cycle degree programme in Urban Geoenvironment, prepares specialists to work with urbanised areas and to understand the potential, limitations and resources of the geoenvironment. Students develop expertise in soil science, hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry and environmental protection, with a particular focus on urban environments that have been used and transformed by human activity to varying degrees.
Graduates will be able to assess the environmental impact of both contemporary and historical developments, identify their complex consequences, and propose sustainable ways of using environmental services and resources while minimising pressure on biotic and abiotic components.
You do not need to hold an engineering degree from our Faculty to apply for this programme.
As a graduate of the Urban Geoenvironment programme, you will be well prepared to work in institutions and companies involved in environmental monitoring at various stages of urban development projects, including the assessment of reclamation and restoration projects in post-industrial and degraded areas.
Career opportunities are available in local and central government administration, as well as in institutions responsible for developing and implementing strategic environmental protection, climate adaptation and natural resource management programmes. Graduates may also contribute to Smart City initiatives, including the transition towards a green economy and zero-waste solutions, the expansion of green and water-retention areas, and the protection of geoenvironmental resources and natural and cultural heritage for present and future generations.
